November News 2019

A Message from the Principal:

Welcome November!

November is the month were we give thanks. We give thanks for many things, but the most important one is the one that comes from our hearts. I give thanks for the opportunity to meet great families, children, and teachers. I am thankful for all of my teachers that every day pour their hearts out to your children and still have extra for their own families. Thank YOU from the bottom of my heart, and thank you all for being part of Bethesda Country Day School (BCDS).

We will continue to support Manna Food. Our Food Drive starts Monday, November 4th through November 15th.  Please bring your nonperishable items and place them in the donation boxes outside the classrooms. This campaign teaches our children the importance of helping others. Please help us help them!

Last but not least, a friendly reminder that the weather is getting cooler. Please make sure your child has appropriate outside wear along with a seasonal change of clothing (please check the size as they might have grow a few inches within the last six months). We want each student to enjoy the cooler weather this autumn and the fresh air; only below 32 degrees we will remain inside.

BCDS* will be CLOSED on Monday, November 11th in observance of “Veteran’s Day.”  MCPS* is in session (early release), please make the necessary arrangements for your children’s care. This is a BCDS Professional Day for Teachers.

We will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th –  in observance of “Thanksgiving Day”

As always, thank you for partnering with us for the academic growth and overall success of your child. It is our goal that they do their very best each and every day

Kindest Regards,

Milagros Morales, Principal

Toy Policy
Toys from home are NOT permitted at school. Please refrain from allowing your child to bring in toys from home, unless it is their scheduled show and share day. CBA is NOT responsible for toys that are brought from home that can get lost, broken, stolen, etc… and can cause fighting among the children.

Illness Policy Reminder:

Our parents are vital partners in helping us to maintain a safe and healthy environment for the students in our school. The most important thing you can do to assist us in creating a healthy environment is to keep your child home if they are ill. This reduces the spread of illness and allows your child to fully recuperate. Children may not attend school until they have been symptom free for 24 hours if they display any of the following:

  • Fever of 100 degrees of more—must be fever free for 24 hours with no fever-reducing medicine before returning to school
  • Vomiting, diarrhea or stomach upset
  • Heavy nasal discharge requiring wiping every 3-5 minutes
  • Persistent, non-productive or barking cough
  • Sore throat
  • Skin rash, including diaper rash
  • Head lice
  • Symptoms of a communicable disease
  • Fussy, cranky behavior unlike child’s normal demeanor that may indicate illness
